From Mark's Web site:
When I sat down
to write this Bio, I had every intention of doing the
usual; write all Mark's musical accomplishments, his history,
stories of he & his National Academy of Songwriters'
Musician of the Year Award winning Country/Americana
band -- Big Red Sky and their celebrated run as the house
band at the legendary Palomino Club in North Hollywood.
I also intended to write about the rockin' side of this
talented guitar man, and his days "shredding" with one
of the 80's L.A. club scene's hotter Rock bands -- Room
Service.
Then, I'd of no doubt mentioned Mark's successful foray
into the production side of the biz, and his time spent
producing & arranging CD's for talented artists
such as the folk/celtic sweethearts -- The
Browne Sisters.
For good measure, I may have thrown in that I've yet to see this man pick up
an instrument he can't play.. and play well!
But, after Mark sent me a few notes to work with, I realized.. there wasn't one
thing I could possibly write, which could tell you more about who Mark Romano
is, than those few modest and sincere notes written in his own hand.
So, here, in his very own words, simply, yet eloquently written, please meet...
I
grew up in small town America.
I have to make certain that the statute of limitations has expired before I tell
you all the stories, though.
By the time I was eight, I could ride, rope, and shoot.
I threw a mediocre fastball, but a great curve, and I could hit anything anyone
in town could throw.
I grew up in what Garrison Keillor calls “the benign neglect” of
the large family. I have a lot of brothers and sisters, great
parents, and we still all get together a couple of times a year.
I was outdoors a lot, and pretty much only showed up at mealtime.
I played music since I could read. It was my way of standing out from my
family, of getting attention in high school – (well, that and my batting
average and stolen base total, my junior year…)
But I never really fit in.
I still don’t.
But I still play baseball, and music, and I still wear cowboy boots.
I write songs about everything – my family, my friends, people I’ve
met, stories I’ve heard, dreams I’ve believed in, cars, guitars,
baseball, girls I’ve lusted after, and even some I loved.
Sometimes, people come to hear them, to be together with one another, to joke,
to think, to laugh.
Feels like my family, all over again.
Hope to see you soon –
Mark
